Congratulations to the team behind Philadelphia's Funeral for a Home, a campaign to commemorate the demise of a single, tattered rowhouse in the city's Mantua district. Highlighting the complex dynamic underlying housing abandonment and neighborhood regeneration in evolving post-industrial cities, the project set out to offer a historically rich civic dialogue on housing demolition. On May 31, a rousing community-wide ritual included testimonials, a church choir, and a neighborhood procession to mark one unremarkable house's resonant life and death.
